SHERIFF IMPLEMENTS NEW PROJECT - INMATE ROADSIDE CLEANUP
A new project was implemented recently by the Sheriff’s Office. The project,
called - Inmate Roadside Cleanup - allows inmates to get out of jail for the day picking up litter
along area roadways. The inmates will also be used to pick up and clean illegal dumpsites.
Inmates who participate in the project are carefully chosen and security will always be a top
priority for the officers assigned to supervising the project.
A trailer for the project was recently completed and will be used to haul tools and
any other necessities the inmates may need, including a restroom. The trailer and its contents were
made possible thanks to the support of Lowe’s and Wal-Mart of Franklin, B & B Concrete, Inc.
and Gooder Grafix. During the month of April, Sheriff’s Office inmates picked up over 6,000 pounds of
litter along Macon County roadways.
