Macon County Emergency Services is the agency dedicated to ensuring the appropriate and efficient response to emergencies throughout the county operating twenty-four hours a day, year round. Our services include:
The department oversees contracts with the eleven volunteer fire departments that provide protection to Macon County residents & businesses and provides for fire inspections. Macon County does have a fire prevention ordinance enforceable by civil and criminal penalties.
This division also serves as the Emergency Management agency for Macon County serving as the coordination point between emergency and non-emergency local, state, and federal assistance during times of disaster.
In addition, Emergency Services also plans for the Macon County response to a disaster, natural or man-made, and other complex emergencies. Disaster planning integrates all of the critical departments of Macon County Government with the local municipalities as well as state and federal agencies.
